Get a simple PHP CMS
I’m not that into PHP, although I’ve worked with some of the better known content management systems like Joomla and XOOPS I tend to stick with ASP.NET, whether it be a community developed systems or something I have created myself to fulfil a specific requirement.
That said, I felt the need to mention GetSimple CMS. I was looking for a very light weight CMS for some affiliate marketing sites that I have planned, the first of which is BikeKids.co.uk. I wanted to just get things up and running quickly and avoid setting up databases if possible. My first thought was Orchard (which this site is running on) but lots of its features would exceed my needs. So, after a bit of hunting around and reading reviews I came across GetSimple, an open-source cms that uses an XML data store. It does exactly what it says on the tin: “GetSimple has everything your client needs, and nothing a CMS doesn't”.
I haven’t delved to deep into it yet, Im using the vanilla theme and haven’t made any tweaks, I just unzipped and published to my host (turnkeyinternet) and 10 minutes later I had a site up and running with some basic content in place.
So hats off to the people behind GetSimple - a small but perfectly formed CMS for allowing the quick and effortless website creation.
